Morning: Small bottle of Formula
Afternoon:Smashed bananas in jar from Gerber
Late After Noon: Bottle then burp them to nap.
Night:Baby food in jar such as Carrots,Vegetable Turkey from Gerber.
Bedtime: Dont let you’re baby fall asleep with a bottle in their mouth try to wait till they’re asleep and replace it with a pacifier. The milk or formula can get old over night while its still in your baby’s mouth, causing your baby to have hard poop and you don’t want your baby to have that.
Hope this helps! :)

In the very, very beginning, give baby normal feedings of bottle with normal amounts (you are not substituting any milk from baby’s diet) then give a tablespoon or less of rice cereal or what ever baby food you want to start with. Make sure when you switch between solids, you wait a couple days before starting a new one, to make sure there aren’t any allergies. They are just testing the waters at this point and developing their palate.

First feedings of solid food are not meant to replace breastmilk or formula, which should be the bulk of the baby’s nutrition for the first year, they are meant to supplement it. Give the baby all regular bottle (or breast) feedings, and add about 1 tablespoon of solid food once a day after the feeding. Some people start with cereal (believe it or not, more difficult to digest at this age than meat or fruit and vegetables), but you can also start with fruit or vegetables. Many babies like a bit of ripe mashed banana or avocado thinned with a bit of water, formula or breastmilk. You can also try sweet potato, pumpkin, orange squash, applesauce or pear sauce. Remember to offer the same food several days in a row before starting another, so if the baby does have a reaction, you’ll know what the offending food is.

You can offer the food at the time that is best for you. Some prefer the morning, some lunch time or dinner. There is no evidence that solids help babies to sleep better, however.

baby food schedule–: Baby food feeding schedule?
My son its almost 4 months.. I don’t plan on start baby food for about a month to 2 months.. Sometime between 5 and 6 months. I’m going to try cereal but I don’t think I’ll use it too much as I’ve heard its mostly just empty calories. I was just asking this question for when I do start with baby food.. How often was your baby eating jarred food when you first started? When you did get into a schedule with bottles and solids what was your schedule like? This is my first baby and although I’ve babysat my 1 year old niece a ton.. I don’t really know how to schedule between the bottles and solids.

Thanks!

Well. you want to feed the food that is most filling in the evenings so they will sleep during the night, and the bottles in the day and maybe add a little cereal to make it more filling.

Answer by Dabest
When you give baby food its usually how you eat breakfast lunch then dinner bottles in between

Answer by ~~Daniel’s Mommy~~
I would feed my son his formula first, then add in some jarred foods. We started at 4 months when my doctor said to go ahead. In the beginning I tried cereal, but we gave it up quickly and moved on to sweet potato or butternut squash. I would only give him a couple teaspoons full after his bottle.
If you feed them the solid first, you run the risk of them not taking their full bottle which is where they get the most important nutrients.

I agree with her. And its really not a schedule though. Its more of when the baby is hungry. I started all of mine on baby food and cereal when I thought they needed, not when the doctor says. Do me feeding a 3 month old formula every 2 hrs means they were not getting enough food. so…

Answer by Melyssa
I started them once a day. they would only eat like a table spoon or two at the time so dont expect him to gulp down a whol jar yet. Give him a little of milk and then the food and then the rest of the milk or what ever he feels like drinking. ( dont fore the rest of the bottle on him if he doesnt want it)
You’ll notice when he gets more hungry and at that point you can start giving him breakfast and dinner and after a while you can add lunch to the mix.
I usally made the bottle, used some milk to mix the cereal and mixed some baby food with the cereal because they didnt really like the plain jarfood, it was watery and sometimes the flavors can be quite strong. and then I gave them the rest of the bottle to drink if they wanted but most of the time they would only drink an oz or two when given solids.

That’s all up to you and how you decide to feed your baby. I will tell you what I did with mine. I have 5 kids whom are all grown basically. Anyways what I did when I decided to start baby food I would give my baby jard food when we ate. Usually at lunch and/or dinner. It was mostly because it was fun and I only gave them what they liked. Fruits, sweet potatoes, yams, some liked the peas I sometimes mixed the veggies with applesauce to make them sweeter. I know you will get tons and tons and tons of people telling you how NOT to only give baby the sweet foods because then your baby will only like sweet foods….its so not true. My kids love food…all kinds of food. They have always loved veggies, meats, fruits, grains…ALL FOODS. For the first few months of trying foods all I gave them was the fruits and some veggies NEVER the dinners or meat baby foods…they are gross, lol. Because I fed them at the table when we ate the logical next step was to give them things we were eating that they could eat. Little bites of whatever we were eating and of course mashed potatoes and anything soft like that. I know this will gross out many people and they will disagree but we very often would take small tastes of food from out mouths because it was well chewed…sounds gross I know but once you are eating with your baby you will see…its natural and not gross, lol. Good luck and oh ya…the schedule thing, If you want a schedule then of course do that. Feeding baby on a schedule is basically trying to make sure he is hungry when you want him to eat so don’t give him a full bottle at 11 if you want him to eat food at 11:30…..good luck and have fun with baby they are only small for such a short time don’t make the easy stuff work…you have enough of that.

Start rice cereal at six months or later.
First he will have to get used to the feel and texture of a baby spoon.NEVER put any solids in a bottle.
Wait at least 10 days before adding any other food. This is so you can make sure he is not allergic to any one food.
After that try adding different cereals and then add veggies.
If you add fruit before veggies he may refuse to eat veggies.
Just a little at a time.

Please get a book on child development and feeding schedules.
By the first year he should eat many foods with his fingers.

As a mother, my first children [ twins ] still eat like little kids. That is because I kept foods from them and thought they were unable to handle things like ketchup.
My baby is now 16 and she eats everything.By the time your son is old enough, let him eat a variety of food choices.
That is a long way off , just take it slow now.

We started our daughter on solids at 5 1/2 months. Until she was 6 months, we only gave her cereal every morning. At 6 months we started her on vegetables every evening and at 6 1/2 months we started fruits mixed with the cereal every morning. She is now 7 months old and a typical day for her is:
7:00am- 1 container stage 1 Gerber baby food fruit (1 container = 1/4 cup) and 1 Tbsp baby oatmeal cereal mixed together, 4 oz bottle of formula
12:00pm- 6 oz bottle of formula
4:00pm- 4 oz bottle of formula
7:00pm- 1 container stage 1 Gerber baby food vegetable (1 container = 1/4 cup) and 1 Tbsp baby rice cereal mixed together, 4 oz bottle formula
11:00pm- 6 oz bottle of formula
I hope this helps! Just start slowly and take cues from your son. He will let you know when he is hungry and full. When we first started solids our daughter would only eat about 1/2 to 1 Tbsp at a time, but she gradually began increasing her intake until she could eat a whole stage 1 container. So don’t worry if he won’t eat very much at first. Most of his nutrients and calories should still come from formula or breastmilk until 1 year of age. My daughter still has days where she only wants bottles and is not interested in baby food and other days she wants to eat baby food. The most important thing to remember is to never force your baby to finish all his food or bottle. He will be your guide as to when he has had enough.

[packed for my scheduled 12hr day in the ER... but that got cut short due to the new FT job I've acquired. So It got shevled for the next day's typical 8hs in the office!]

I pulled out the Mr. early as I’d had an early start without breakfast, and my lunch turn didn’t come around until much later than usual. So I went for the yogurt mid-morning… figuring I’d have the salad and such with a plate of the caf’s pesto linguine.
However, when I saw the pesto… turns out it didn’t occur to them to distinguish that it was a sun-dried tomato pesto. Not bad, just not what I had had in mind. So I simply stuck with my super-salad…
