Hey Ladies..
So I went to the doctors today with my lill one and she is almost 4 months she will be on July 5th. I talked to my doctor and I told her that I had been giving Madisyn rice cereal for a bit now and that she has 5-6 bottles a day with 6oz of formula in it, I asked her when can i start to feed her the Beginner food cause there is Beginner and than 6 months food, and she told me I can start to give her the Beginner food now if I wanted to. But I don’t know when I should give it to her during the day! So our routine is.. all day bottles every 3 hours and than at around 9:30ish when her last bottle is I give her a bowl of rice pablum and than she is in bed till 7:30ish the next morning. Should I start to give her the veggies during the dinner time feeding or at the lunch time feeding? Im starting off with Vegies and will try that for a week before I introduce a new veggie or fruit. Any suggestions on how your baby’s feedingschedulee was?
Please I dont want NO negitive comments.. I have got my Doctors permission to start to feed her jar food! Thanks

Your doctor is going against the advice and recommendations of the governing body of doctors. Doesn’t that concern you? She doesn’t have the enzymes needed to digest anything other than breastmilk still. You’re putting her at risk for so much.
Anyway. Until a baby is a year, breastmilk or formula is the primary source of nutrition. At 4 months, I wouldn’t be giving ANYthing else. I’d suggest giving veggies as an early dinner so she can be done trying to digest them before going to sleep.
Your doctor is very out of date and uninformed. Poor you.
Answer by Jude’s Mummy
Jude is nearly six months and I started him at 4 too with permission for reflux.
Anyway, I give him half a jar of veggies at lunch and half ved and half fruit at tea (or the equivellent near enough, make my own so cant say exactly).
His routine looks kind of like this
On wake: bottle 5oz
7:30 – ceeal.
10:00 – bottle 5oz
11:00-11:30 – Lunch
2-3 pm – Bottle 5oz
4:15pm – tea
6:45- bottle
7pm- bed.
Its not strict, he has the bottles around those sort of times (just whenever he wants) but has lunch and tea at same time.
Introduce new foods at lunchtimes so that if she had a reaction you would be there, whereas if she had it before bed and had a reaction, you wouldnt know.

I started my son at 4 months (with my Dr’s ok) and we have just been trying things for the last 3 weeks and haven’t really got a schedule going yet. My advice would be to start a new food in the morning or lunch time. Because if they have a reaction, you are going to want to be around. If you do it to close to bed time, she will be sleeping. It could cause her gas too, and i’m sure you don’t want to be up all night! So that is what I do, I start a new food earlier in the day, just in case! Right now he gets veggies in the early afternoon. Sometimes not at all some days.

I nursed about every 3 hours too, at that age. When I started solids, I usually just did them at the dinner feeding. However, it is totally fine to do them at the lunch feeding as well. One benefit to that is that if your baby does have any reaction or digestive trouble, it doesn’t interfere with their nighttime sleep. IN fact, the day I introduced a new food I would usually give it at lunch time, just in case. There really is no right answer to this, its whatever works for your and your baby best. Just make sure you do it in addition to the normal bottle, you shouldn’t be replacing bottles at this age.
Your baby will probably eat less than a full jar at first, so its a good idea to scoop some into a different bowl to feed her out of. Otherwise the saliva gets in the jar and starts to break down the food. You can refrigerate leftovers for 2-3 days.
Its a myth that if you do fruits first your baby won’t like veggies, so you can do either fruits or veggies first, or alternate, or whatever you want. Again, no “right answer” on the order you should introduce beginner foods, as long as they _are_ beginner foods.
Have fun – its great to see them discovering so many new tastes and textures!

I just answered a question about feeding…
This is what I feed my 7 month old:
Breakfast- cereal w/ a stage 2 fruit.
Lunch- Macoroni, Chicken noodle,OR tomato beef stage 2
Supper- chicken, turkey, or veal stage 2 w/ a veggie.
She has about 40 oz. of milk/day.
Also finger foods such as puffs or cheerios for snacking.

The baby I nanny for started with fruit in his cereal, 1 stage 1 for lunch (veggie or fruit) with formula, and 1 stage 1 for dinner (whichever he didn’t have at lunch). There honestly wasn’t any order we started him…this is just what we found worked for him. We offered all the fruits and veggies and found what he liked. He likes everything but peas!

I didn’t start my son on solids 3 times a day until he hit 7 months and is no longer getting satisfied with 2 times per day plus his milk. His feedings look something like this..
7:00 am Breastfed
7:30-8 am Either 2-3 ounces of fruit or cereal mixed with breastmilk.
He is breastfed after he eats
9am naptime
10:30-11 am breastfed
12:30-1 either yogurt or a veggie. He will practice self feeding with yogurt melts and get breastfed after eating
3 pm breastfed
5 pm a 2.5 or 3 ounce jar of fruit and a 2.5 or 3 ounce jar of veggie then breastfed
7pm breastfeed
8:30 breastfeed until he falls asleep
11 breastfeed
and he nurses 2-3 times through the night.
Also, I started with veggies and then went to fruits.

At six months I did in this order for 3 days each 2 spoons a day
peas, green beans, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes
bananas, apples, peaches, pears, prunes, quava, mango
turkey, chicken
and any other foods came after
she, at 8 months, is just now getting on a more routine 3 x a day feeding schedule.
She usually eats about 1/4 cup cereal in the morning with a jar of fruit
for lunch i give her a jar of veggies
then she gets a jar of meat & veggies sometimes she’ll add a half of jar of fruit to that for dinner.
Just how much she wants to eat.
Plus all her formula throughtout the day.
and my daughter doesn’t care for the cereal either so I just mix it in with her morning fruit so she gets the extra iron.

I had to go to a test, for a possible job, this evening… not enough time between work and a scheduled 2 hours… so dinner was packed, again. Oyg!
my verdict on PB&Bacon: I’m guessing it was because it was cold when I ate it (Adam’s Natural gets pretty hard when cold) but I wasn’t impressed. I only ate half.
I ate the second half at breakfast, on my way out the door the next morning. Better, but nothing I’d find myself hooked to!
