He is too young, give him a month or two and try again. Most pediatricains now recommend solid feeding not start until 6 to 7 months old!

I had the same problem with my son. He was just resistant to something new. It took time and patience, at first I would try to feed him solids only once a day but when he began to cry or I could see he was getting frustrated I would stop. He is now almost 6 months old and does really well. We still have our tough times but we get thru them. Good luck.

I would wait it out another month or so. He’s not ready for it. You can just supplement extra hunger with forumla…

Wait till he is hungry for a bottle. Not starving but beginning hungy. Let him slurp it off the spoon. A little each day. And start with vegatables so he doesnt choose sweets (friut) over veggies. He will get the hang of it. Give him sips of his bottle between spoonfulls. Then give him a bottle after wards to finish him off.

He may not have gotten over his tongue-thrust reflex yet. We had that problem when we tried solid food at 4 months. Wait a couple weeks and try again. In the meantime, try a bit of rice cereal in his bottle to get him used to the flavor.

Also, breastmilk or formula should still be his primary source of calories at this age. You should start each feeding with a bottle, then supplement with solids after the bottle.

Then he isn’t ready. Wait a while, perhaps another month, before trying again.
This is one thing that you have to let your baby lead you on.

It is hard for a baby that is used to just liquids to be introduced to cereal or food but just be patient. It might be a little early for him. In about a week or so try it again and see how he reacts to it. It might be best if you try him on cereal first. Rice cereal is what my doctor told me was the best to start on, less harsh on the babies stomach. Hang in there, everything will work out

Answer by island3girl
that happens, just keep offering it to him at every meal. Don’t let him get so hungry that he’s famished because then he won’t want to deal with anything but the bottle (bottles are easy and the lazy way of eating). Try to make it a pleasant time and talk to him and show him how you eat it (I know, yuck, but it helps to lead by example).

He’ll take to it – he may be too young too. Talk with your doctor

he ovbiously wasnt ready, just give him some time and try again. Also, try some other kind of food. i would start out with cereal. and when you give them regular baby food, start out with vegtables, because you if give them something sweet then they get a taste for that and thats all they want to eat later on in life.

Answer by infamoushoax
First feedings can be a struggle. The new food consistancy in their mouths doesn’t really calculate to them. They haven’t learned to swallow solid foods and the fact that this helps cure their hunger. Take it slow. A few bites before the bottle at each feeding.

You might have to wait until he’s a bit older.

Q&A–: What is the best first baby food for a sensative tummy?
We took our 5 mo old off baby food for the second time since she still gets a sore stomach. She cries and spits up. I decided to wait til she’s 6 months before trying again. Since she seems to have a sensative stomach and she always had some gas problems, which food should i try when I start her again? We tried sweet potatoes and carrots so far, both upset her. Right now she is still eating rice cereal. which food is the easiest to digest?

It may not be the food at all, but her body’s way of telling you to stop giving her solids before she’s ready.

Avocado is a really good first food. Bananas are also good. I found the book Super Baby Food diet really helpful. It has a glossary that lists foods — what age they can be introduced/ nutritional value/ reasons you might avoid until older (cause digestive problems, etc)

Good luck

i would continue with baby rice just now, all babies are different, and your baby is maybe just going to take a bit longer to wean, dont worry she will eat normal food when she is ready, and as long as she is putting on weight and is content i wouldnt worry too much.

Rice cereal, oatmeal and mostly any cereal either from the jar or boxed that you can mix with their formula is perfect for a child that age and you can try mixing it with applesauce, peaches, pears or any other non-acidic fruit. They shouldn’t have juices or fruits with acids until they’re 12 months or older, it’s rough on their tummies. Any other juices should at first be diluted with water to create less problems. You can also introduce them to their veggies mixed with their cereal as well. I had no problems with that and I really never had any problems with them spitting up their food but they always spit up their formula, I think that’s something that mostly all newborns do. I have one grandson that never spit up his formula and he’s the first I’ve even see that didn’t and he also had no problems with his baby foods. GOOD LUCK!!

  1. Introducing solids too early can cause food allergies. Talk to your pediatrician. If all he wants is his bottle, then let him have it. Formula or breast milk is the best thing for him right now. When he’s ready for solids, he will have to learn how to use his mouth to swallow the food. He’s not ready yet.

  2. If this was his reaction, he isn’t ready. Give him another month or two, and then try again.

  3. then he aint ready
